Free Rides Forever!

The kids made plenty of great drawings. After holding many workshops, Milo had collected over a thousand drawings. Then came the hard part. Milo had to choose which drawings to use for the thirty-six carousel figures. They not only had to look great, but since Milo was going to sculpt three-dimensional figures exactly like the kids' original drawings, they had to have a flat spot where a kid could sit. Plus, there couldn't be any sharp or dangerous corners that could poke a kid's eye out (or poke anything else out for that matter). On top of that, all the figures had to fit nicely together around the carousel, so that they could move up and down and still have plenty of room between all the parts and no one's head or other body part could get stuck.

Thirty-six drawings were finally chosen--an amazing menagerie. There's a bright yellow horse, and a very fast camel, an enormous moose, a zebra with plaid legs, a bull, a cow, and two deer. There's a monkey, a bat, a white and blue rabbit and a Chihuahua. There's even a slimy snail, two lions, and some sort of mysterious fox-like creature called a slicker.

We called and wrote to the winners and told them that their drawings would be sculpted into three-dimensional, life-size figures for all to see and ride! Plus, each kid would receive a savings bond and best of all, they would get free rides on the carousel forever--whenever they wanted!
